A little bit of interesting facts on Chesterfield

The town famous for the ‘Crooked Spire' of its Parish Church, standing on the skyline like a question mark – how did it happen?

Answers are easy to find.  Some blame the Devil, some say lightning, one ‘expert' blamed bell ringing!  But the truth is more complicated.  Here's a clue – the lead tiles which cover the Spire weigh 32 tons!  Discover the facts at the town’s Museum.

Chesterfield has another claim to fame – one of the largest open-air markets in the country.  More than 200 stalls pack the town centre every Monday, Friday and Saturday all year.  On Thursdays there's a flea market, and a farmers’ market on the second Thursday of each month.
