• Do you offer finance to help me pay for double glazing?

  Yes - West Yorkshire Windows can arrange a variety of affordable and convenient finance options to suit you and your budget - making your double glazing windows more affordable. Making an application is simple and we promise you a quick decision, normally within 24 hours.

• What do we need to do when our finance is approved?

  If you’re arranging your own finance, you’ll need to call us as soon as you get the go ahead. If you’re taking up one of our offers, the company will tell us both directly, so there’s no need to call as we will get in touch with you.

• What happens if finance is refused?

  Finance companies can turn down people for lots of reasons, for example if you’ve moved several times over the past few years. In these circumstances, we always do our best to help and sometimes it’s worth trying another provider, especially if they know you.

• I’ve applied for finance with West Yorkshire Windows. How long will approval take?

  Sometimes our finance company will say ‘yes’ almost immediately and on other occasions it may take them a few days. This short delay can be for any number of reasons and you should not be unduly concerned.

• How long will the visit from your double glazing designer take?

  We usually advise at least 1 hour for the designer to take down all measurements and to discuss the various window options available to you.

• How long will it take to install new windows and doors?

  Every job is different!  New properties are normally quicker and easier installations than older properties, and it very much depends upon how many windows and doors we are installing.

  Usually, a full house of windows can take 3-4 days to install, but please speak to your local dealer for a full estimate and delivery timescales.

• Do you sell energy rated windows in other colours apart from white?

  Yes, West Yorkshire Windows can supply A – C rated replacement windows in any colour.  There may be slight differences in the glass specification and frame thickness between white UPVC windows and foiled windows – freephone 0800 026 4455 and we'll be happy to help.

• I hear a lot about energy rated windows! What does 'A' rated windows mean?

  A rated windows are the most energy efficient windows available in the UK as defined by the BFRC Rating Scheme.  This is the UK’s national system for rating the energy efficiency of windows and is recognised within the Building Regulations as a method to show compliance for your replacement windows installation.

  Window Energy Ratings use a consumer-friendly traffic-light style A-E ratings guide similar to that used on ‘white’ goods (such as fridges, freezers, washing machines etc…).

  This ratings label can be used by you to make more informed choices about the energy efficiency of the windows you are looking to purchase.

• Is West Yorkshire Windows a member of FENSA?

  West Yorkshire Windows are members of FENSA (Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme) Registered No. 14795. FENSA has been set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) and other industry bodies with Government encouragement in response to the current Building Regulations for England and Wales.
  
  When having windows and doors replaced homeowners must comply with current thermal performance standards and ensure that they get a certificate of compliance from FENSA or from Local Authority Building Control.
  
  FENSA also enables companies that install replacement windows and doors to self certify compliance under these Building Regulations.

• How much will I save on my energy bills if I replace my old windows?

  According to the BFRC, if your home is single glazed or your double glazing was installed prior to April 2002 then you could be losing more heat than necessary, and therefore money, literally out of the window. However, by switching to Energy Efficient Windows you can save energy and reduce your household bills by as much as £461 per year.

  If you live in a single glazed house and install Energy Efficient Windows, you could reduce the energy you use by 0.30 tonnes or 18% - almost reaching the Government target of 20% reduction per household. Add to this other simple energy saving measures – such as insulating your home and turning down the central heating by 1° C - and you could be making a real impact on reducing your carbon footprint.

  The GGF (Glass and Glazing Federation) has created a carbon calculator which allows homeowners to find out how much they can save on their energy bills and by how much they can reduce their carbon footprint through the installation of Energy Efficient Windows. It also tells homeowners how much more they could save by installing the highest rated Energy Efficient Windows (rated 'A') over others levels ('B' to 'G').

• How much will it cost me to replace my windows and doors?

  Every home is different - the shape and size of everyone's windows and doors are not the same too! Our different homes and styles means we all have different requirements.

  Because every home is different, all our windows and doors are tailor-made specially for your home and because and because we offer such a wide range of styles, openings and fittings we will need to visit your home to measure up before we can give you an accurate idea of how much it will cost.

• What is the difference between PVC Windows, PVCu Windows & UPVC Windows?

  There is no difference whatsoever and to be absolutely correct it is PVC-U and neither of the above!

  In the UK UPVC changed it's name to PVCU in the late 1980's to fall in line with other European countries. It seems that they were all calling it call it PVC-U because European languages mostly place the noun (being PVC in this case) before the adjective (U).

  The 'PVC' part of it stands for Poly Vinyl Chloride. The 'U' stands for Un-plasticised. Poly Vinyl Chloride, which we know as every day 'PVC' is modified and can then be used in the manufacture of products such as bags, shoes and also fake leather. It is the use of this material which has made us familiar with the abbreviation 'PVC'.

  Pure PVC-U is not quite suitable for replacement windows and doors. A small amount of additives are required, necessary to provide longevity, high weather and UV resistance, and also to achieve a white colour making it ideal to use for the production of windows and doors.

• What colours do your replacement windows and doors come in?

  Our replacement windows and doors come in a range of colours and whilst the standard manufactured colour for UPVC is white, we also do another eight types of coloured windows.

  In addition to the universally popular brilliant white windows, you can also choose traditional wood grains in the rich, dark elegance of Rosewood or the delightful lighter Golden Oak option. You can even choose from our fabulous new range comprising of cream, whitegrain, green, grey, rustic cherry and also black. All the windows are also available in combinations with white so you can have the outside of your home in a different colour to the inside, if you wish.

• Do you sell wooden windows or any timber products?

  No, we don't sell windows or doors made from wood as we specialise in high grade UPVC, but we do actually have a range of realistic woodgrain effect windows that look just as good if not better timber windows!

  If you would like the traditional look of timber but without the associated maintenance hassles like painting, rotting and warping of real wood, then our realistic wood effect windows are just for you and your home.

• How long are your windows guaranteed for?

  All our double glazing windows are guaranteed for 10 years. Our premium 'A' rated windows are guaranteed for 20 years.
