Centrica, the owners of British Gas, have warned UK homeowners that they can expect a further rise in their energy bills this coming winter. Over the past few years, energy bills price rises have become commonplace, with only the occasional price drop taking place such as those announced in January.
This has left many people desperate to find a solution to the issue of expensive energy and it would seem that renewable energy is being favoured by the large majority. Solar panels are in particularly high demand as the feed-in-tariff (the money that homeowners earn from the energy generated) is set to drop further in July from 21p to a possible 13.6p.
Director at Eco Investments, David Hunt says:
“This is the final chance for consumers to secure a fantastic return on investment if they go ahead with a solar PV installation before July 1.
“After this date, the FIT…
A stage has been reached where millions of UK homeowners are desperate to find a cheaper energy tariff as they struggle to afford their existing energy bills. Consumer groups advise contacting current suppliers to see whether they can offer a better deal, and if not, then to look into switching suppliers as it can often save you a huge amount of money.
We often don’t have the time or patience to be ringing around energy suppliers for a quote, instead preferring to scour the internet for deals on comparison sites and alike. In some cases, online tariffs provide you with a better deal than those you can get over the phone, but possibly not for much longer as uSwitch.com has warned that online energy tariffs are creeping upwards.
Scottish Power have recently withdrawn their most affordable online energy tariff and replaced it with one which works out at £31 dearer.…
Putting your home in the hands of others is something you may be extremely reluctant to do, but if you want to invest in regular home improvements it is an essential prerequisite. Hiring the right type of firm is all-important if you want a job to be done properly and there still remains a very small club of installers who are just after a quick buck.
To avoid them we suggest you pay attention to the following list of suggestions:
Ask around
Speaking to friends and family, particularly if you have never employed the services of a home improvement before, is essential. They may be able to recommend a company that they have used themselves which may reduce the risk of things going wrong. When online, look out for review sites to see what people are saying about installers in your area.

It is very easy for an installer…
It has been reported by the Daily Express that energy bills could increase to over £1,500 a year in the coming months. There are rumours abound that the Big Six energy suppliers will push up the costs of household energy by 24 per cent. The average annual energy bill in comparison currently stands at £1,252.
Director of consumer policy at comparison site uSwitch.com, Ann Robinson says:
“Any rises would be devastating. Most people only just survived last winter with 80 per cent rationing their energy use. If costs go up any more, people will be too scared to turn the heating on.”
With an increasing number of people finding themselves living in fuel poverty, the number of people forced to go without heat completely is certain to rise if the rumours about price increases are true.
This will have severe ramifications on people’s health and overall well-being, particularly those…
Setting up and running a business can be a very expensive proposition, particularly in the current climate. Therefore the last thing you need is to be hit financially by expensive energy bills, but this is the case for many businesses according to recent research carried out by British Gas.
Their survey discovered that almost half of UK businesses, 47% of them in fact, are failing to install measures which will help them save substantial amounts of money on energy bills. This is despite a total of 75% of businesses saying that the rising cost of energy bills is one of their biggest overheads.
It just doesn’t make sense to allow energy bills to spiral out of control when you could easily get in touch with an installer and ask them to install double glazing throughout the building, a proven way of driving down the cost of energy.…
We are a nation obsessed with home improvements, especially since the economic downturn hit the UK. Rather than look to move to a different property, huge numbers of people prefer to look at ways of improving where they currently live. This often means relying upon a home improvement firm to do a job on your behalf which is something that certain people may do in trepidation.

If you have recently put your home on the market then you will only be too aware of how difficult it is to secure buyer interest. Those who live on a street where numerous homes are up for sale have an even harder task on their hands. The last thing you want is for those homes around you to secure a sale before you do.
But unless you make a serious effort to make your home as appealing as possible that could well be the case. The modern-day buyer won’t accept just anything. They expect to see that you have done your best to transform it into something special. This means investing in products such as double glazing in Leeds, orangeries in Leeds and conservatories in Leeds.
A home extension in particular will make your home stand-out that bit more…

In the face of growing criticism, the boss of British Gas, Phil Bentley, has stated that families need to get their priorities in order to make provisions for the rising cost of gas and electricity. He believes that some families are putting the cost of Sky TV packages, amongst other things, ahead of energy bills and that their mind-set needs to change.
Mr Bentley said: “People will have to pay more per unit [over the next ten years] and they are therefore going to have to be more diligent in saving energy. People will pay their Sky bill before their energy bill… There has got to be a sensible debate about it.”
The number of families living in fuel poverty is at a record high and continues to increase at a rapid rate. Whether some of these families find themselves in fuel poverty because of their insistence on giving higher…
