Have you recently turned away the local double glazing company from your doorstep considering it to be an unwanted expense? If so, then you need to think again as the benefits of installing double glazing, far outweigh the negatives as detailed below:

Increased security

Double glazed windows are installed with the very best locking mechanisms making it that extra bit difficult for burglars to break in through them. Because they are double paned it also makes it harder to remove or smash the glass, whereas a single paned window hit by a strong object tends to break easier.

Reduce heating bills

If you want windows with great insulation properties then go double glazed. They are able to transmit the suns natural light into a room, therefore bringing warmth into the home. On the other hand, during the winter you may not be required to keep the heating on too long as double glazed windows will retain the heat generated from your central heating much longer than single glazing would.

Noise and draft reduction

If you are constantly disturbed by external noise from traffic or neighbours, double glazing will help block out any unwanted sounds. You may also suffer from drafts within the home due to your old wooden windows providing little or no protection from cold air. uPVC Double glazing would put paid to that.

Improves the look of your home

You may have the most lovely looking house in the world, but if you have windows which are rotting, warped or lacking a coat of paint, then it can totally bring down the look of your home.  uPVC windows can help update the look of your home and are very easily maintained.  They are also very unlikely to need be replaced for years after installation.

The UK double glazing industry is seeing a steady uptake in the development of more Energy Efficient Windows since the introduction of the new window ratings system by the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC).

The BFRC Scheme is the UK’s national system for rating the energy efficiency of windows and is recognised within the Building Regulations as a method to show compliance for your replacement windows installation.

double glazing

Window Energy Ratings use a consumer-friendly traffic-light style A-E ratings guide similar to that used on ‘white’ goods (such as fridges, freezers, washing machines etc…). This ratings label can be used by you to make more informed choices about the energy efficiency of the windows you are looking to purchase. With carbon emissions high on the global agenda and the current high cost of fuel, we are all looking for ways to make our homes more energy efficient.

Fabricators and installers of uPVC windows in the UK have been developing a variety of energy rated windows since the scheme was established, and consumers are becoming more aware.

Matthew Glover, the Managing Director of Conservatory Outlet Ltd, one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of Double Glazing and Conservatories is delighted with the progress in the market, and at his company.

‘We’ve found that consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to improve the energy efficiency of their properties, and see their windows as a key element in reducing CO2 emissions,’ states Matthew Glover. ‘We have seen a ten fold increase in sales over the last twelve months, with most people opting for the most energy efficient A Rated windows’.

Replacement Windows

Simply put the new energy rated labels will determine how well a product will perform the functions of helping households contain and conserve heat within buildings in the winter, keep out the wind, resist condensation and contribute to improved sound insulation.

Buildings that are single glazed or the double glazing was installed prior to April 2002 then they could be losing more heat than necessary, and therefore money, literally out of the window. However, by switching to Energy Efficient Windows householders can save energy and reduce household bills by as much as £461 per year (according to the BFRC).

If you live in a single glazed house and install Energy Efficient Windows, you could reduce the energy you use by 0.30 tonnes or 18% – almost reaching the Government target of 20% reduction per household. Add to this other simple energy saving measures – such as insulating your home and turning down the central heating by 1° C – and you could be making a real impact on reducing your carbon footprint.

Conservatory Outlet have produced new literature to explain the benefits of choosing energy efficient windows, and have added more detail to their website at http://www.conservatoryoutlet.co.uk/energy_rated_windows.php

In the current economic climate value for money is more important than ever and with falling house prices we need to do all we can to add value to our homes. UPVC windows and conservatories are additions to your home which are thought to not only improve your home but also be a good investment. A conservatory will add living space to your home and UPVC windows will help to improve the appearance and security of your property.

Advancements in technology mean that unlike traditional wooden framed windows and conservatories UPVC frames will never rot or warp best of all they are also very low maintenance no more summers spent at the top of a ladder painting. UPVC only requires wiping down every now and again to keep it looking as good as new. You will also save money by installing UPVC windows and conservatories as opposed wooden ones as they are far better at keeping heat inside your house therefore lowering your gas and electricity bills and helping to protect the planet at the same time. You will also notice a big reduction in the amount of outside noise coming through when your windows and doors are closed.

Conservatories Replacement Windows Double Glazing

The range of styles which UPVC windows and conservatories are available in is vast. So whether you live in a traditional property or a more modern property there is definitely something to suit you. UPVC now also comes in a fantastic range of colours, of course there is the brilliant white which everyone thinks of when they think of UPVC but there are also wood grain effects made to look like traditional wood or there are some really elegant colours available from black to cream and rustic cherry to green. So you really can make your windows and conservatory unique by adding a splash of colour.

If you live in a traditional property such as a Victorian or Edwardian terraced house then perhaps sash windows would be more in keeping with your house. Well until recently to be able to have the look of sash windows you would have needed to stick with wooden frames. However this is no longer the case. Thanks to improvements in technology you are now able to get UPVC windows which look like traditional sash windows with all the benefits of UPVC technology you really can have the best of both worlds.

Likewise conservatories come in a range of styles to ensure that you can find a style which is to your taste. Some of the more popular styles include Victorian conservatories which are easily recognisable by having 3 or 5 angled windows at the front, Edwardian conservatories which have a rectangular footprint making a good use of the available space or there are Mediterranean conservatories which have shallow sloping roofs these tend to be most popular with bungalow owners due to the style of the roof.

There are obviously a huge range of styles of UPVC windows and conservatories available to choose from and making sure you find the right ones for your property may be a time consuming process however the time spent now will pay dividends in the long run and could even help to add value to your property.

Yorkshire conservatories company to trust!

Be careful using conservatory and Double Glazing websites.

When surfing the variety of conservatory sites online, it can be difficult deciding which sites to trust.

A word of advice.

There are a number of websites offering to put you in touch with well known home improvement companies in your area. Often they imply that you can get a quote online for the desired work, but in reality these websites are trying to capture your data. They then sell your information to other companies.

This obviously leads to a problem – you are likely to be contacted by a number of companies, likely with high pressure sales staff and leaving you without enough time to research these companies. We have heard many stories from our customers who have made such a mistake, before finding our website.

We feel that if you’re looking for a quote for conservatories, doors, windows, or even an orangery you are better off spending a little bit of time researching some local companies in your region, rather than relying on such lead generation websites to do it instead. Local home improvement companies are also likely to have showrooms near by where you can visit and view the quality of products for your self. By just researching a little, you are more likely to find a good quality company to do the work, and receive a better service overall.

Regards, Matthew.

Hi again,

I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help with our new uPVC double glazed conservatory. Everyone was so nice and helpful.

We were very impressed on how it all pieced together and that there wasn’t any extra work that needed to be done. We were told that quite often this is the case with other manufacturers.

We are extremely happy with the new conservatory, it is fantastic to sit in after work and relax. It’s also nice to know that it’s extremely secure with quality window and door locks along with the double glazing.

We have suggested your company to all of our friends. I have to say that the people from West Yorkshire Windows offer great conservatories in Leeds and were available to give out some helpful advice whenever we wanted to ask anything.

We will be coming back in the future.

Home improvements are an easy way to increase the value of your home in Leeds. Many people will increase the value of a home purely through redecoration, however another option that can add value to your home is uPVC windows. They can improve the overall look of your home, whilst also providing effective insulation and heat retention.

There are a wide range of uPVC double glazing windows currently on the market, something to suit your needs. With such a great range, you can effectively chose a style that complements you home and is in keeping with the current features. Some of the popular styles of uPVC windows are casement windows, sash windows, tilt & turn windows and bay windows.

Each style of window ranges in its design and structure. For instance, casement uPVC windows normally consist of one or two panes and are hinged on one side. They are opened by rotating a crank 15 to 30 degrees. This is enough to let in light, but not much else. Slider windows consist of two offset sashes and operate much like a sliding glass door. Double hung windows allow free flow of the air either from the top or the bottom of the window. In general, uPVC windows are mainly consisting of two offset slashes that move vertically. They are best suited in the living rooms or other formal areas of the home.

uPVC windows have many advantages over wooden framed traditional styles. With a complete uPVC structure, they are durable and clean with no painting or maintenance required. They are well insulated, no gaps or holes, which can save money on heating bills come winter.
